Meet The Team

Hi, I’m Madiha Ashraf, Licensed Professional Counselor and founder of Healing Grounds Counseling. For me, therapy isn’t just a profession — it’s a calling rooted in connection, culture, and compassion.
Before Healing Grounds, I co-founded The Impact Counselors, where I worked to make therapy more accessible and culturally grounded for communities who often felt unseen in traditional mental health spaces. I’m also one of the voices behind The Brownified Podcast, where conversations about identity, faith, and healing meet laughter and real talk.
In therapy, I believe growth starts with understanding your story — not rushing to fix it. My approach is warm, conversational, and collaborative. I blend evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness with empathy, faith, and a sense of humor to create a space where you can explore, heal, and feel human again.
If you’ve ever felt like you had to hold everything together on your own, I want you to know — you don’t. Healing Grounds Counseling is a space to slow down, breathe, and begin again.

Therapy changed me. I will never forget how it felt to have someone reach down and pull me up. The transformational experience of therapy is unlike any other, and I am excited to offer that same experience to you. If you want to explore the motivations behind your emotions and behaviors, if you want to learn how to change your patterns of over thinking, if you want to learn tools to cope with and regulate your difficult emotions, then this is the place for you. I have provided therapy to hundreds of men, women, and teens aged 13 to 71.
I believe in my client's ability to transform into the best version of themselves. I am a solutions-oriented therapist and I challenge my clients to set and achieve their goals. I primarily use cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy to treat my clients. I specialize in anxiety, OCD, bipolar, trauma, depression, and spiritual abuse.
I am available evenings and weekends to cater to your scheduling needs. If you feel intimidated or anxious about getting started, give me a call and let's just chat. You can reach me directly by calling the number on this website. I am excited to work with you and will do my best to offer you the support you need to live your best life.

Ferguson is the heart and fur of our counseling practice, bringing warmth, calm, and just the right amount of sass to every session. As a therapy cat in training, he is working on specializing in Animal-Assisted Therapy—offering purrs, head boops, and cozy companionship to help clients feel safe, seen, and supported.
With an uncanny knack for knowing when someone needs a quiet cuddle or a gentle distraction, Ferguson has become a trusted co-therapist for clients navigating anxiety, grief, trauma, and more. He takes his role seriously — though he reserves the right to nap mid-session if the sunbeam is just right.
When he’s not in the therapy room, Ferguson enjoys birdwatching, light walks outside, playing soccer and conducting in-depth research on the raccoons and possums that live behind his house.
Please note: one week prior notice is required for animal therapy session.
